How to Track Down a Life Policy or Unclaimed Money in TEXAS
If you have taken the steps listed in my last blog on tracking down life policies and have not had any success, here are some tips on locating life policies purchased in the Great State of Texas:
1) Fill out a Consumer Request Form at http://www.tdi.texas.gov/life/life.html. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW CAN BE FOUND AT THIS LINK!
2) Wait for companies to contact you with information on a policy that matches the information submitted on your request form. Please note that your request is only sent to life insurance companies participating in this service. You can see the list of participating companies here http://www.tdi.texas.gov/consumer/lifelocatorcompanies.html.
3) After 3 years, if money is unclaimed, you can check with the Comptroller's unclaimed property department at http://comptroller.texas.gov/up/.
